Hairstyle File: Rihanna PDF Print E-mail

rihanna.jpgFrom her first album, Music of the Sun, to her most current, Good Girl Gone Bad, Rihanna has gone from talented teen pop star to a mature sex symbol. Just like her voice and style, her hair has also undergone several transformations. Deemed one of the sexiest women alive by Maxim, there seems to be no style this popular songstress can’t pull off! Over the past few years, Rihanna has experimented with long and flowing hair, bangs, and crimped hair. Her most influential and glamorous look, however, is her angled bob, a look that Elle Magazine noted was “legendary.”

To achieve Rihanna’s super sleek hairstyle, you will need the following items:
- Hair straightener
- Frizz ease serum
- Relaxing balm (if necessary)

- Blow dryer
- Hair spray
- Flat brush

Rihanna’s hair has a very unique and sexy cut, one that will probably turn out best if you get it done professionally. If this is possible, go to your local salon and ask for a bob that is angled over one ear, short in the back, and has long, piecey bangs. For the best results, bring in a picture of Rihanna to ensure you get the most specific cut. Not able to go to a salon? No worries – in interviews Rihanna has said she cuts and styles her own hair, so you definitely can too! Just be sure to cut your hair when it’s dry to avoid accidentally taking too much off.

To maintain and style your new cut, first take a shower to completely clean your hair. After your hair is half dry, rub on a dab of relaxing balm (if you’re African American) and completely cover ever strand with a thin layer of it.  If you don’t need to relax your hair, go straight to drying your hair. As you blow dry, brush your hair using the flat brush to smooth the cuticle of your hair, creating more shine.
After your hair is completely dry, if it is not completely straight, use a hair straightener until your strands are super sleek and straightened. Then,  take a dime sized amount of frizz ease serum and run your fingers through your hair, to eliminate static and frizz and also to create more polish to your new look. To ensure a style that will last all day, spritz a spray or two of hair spray to set the finished style.
