Trying to find the perfect prom hairstyle? Look no further! With the
assistance of Byron Williams from MAC Cosmetics, we're here to offer
some tips on this year's best styles.
The French Twist
Sleek, sexy, and always the classic prom hairstyle. But, rather
than the traditional severe pulled-back look, soften it up with some
curly tendrils around your face. Or add fresh flowers around the crown
- either pull them out of your corsage or buy a few extra to match!
Flowing Curls
Williams suggests taking a cue from the likes of Jessica Simpson to
create your prom 'do this year. "Ropy, wavy, half-up," he says. "Sort
of pretty and sexy." If you're attempting this look at home, use a
curling iron (the barrel should be 1" wide at largest) to give yourself
beautiful, sexy curls.
The Chignon
Mischa Barton favors this style - you should, too! Gather your hair
at the nape of your neck, but keep it loose - let some tendrils peek
out. Williams suggests using Davinas products, not just for this look
but for any of them! "They're sort of light, but heavy enough to give
volume and keep the curls," he encourages.
The Slicked-Back Look
Best for shorter tresses. Use a pomade or wax to make it glisten
and add texture while keeping it close to the scalp. One of the hottest
looks this spring is clipping a beautiful vintage brooch into your
locks - raid your grandma's jewelry box or scour antique shops for a
glittery butterfly or flower to fasten on one side.
The Sleek Ponytail
Think Carrie from the second season of "Sex and the City." Run a
straightening iron through your locks to add shine, spritz on a bit of
shine spray and gather your hair into a neat, sleek ponytail in the
middle of your head. Simple but very elegant!
Now all you need is the dress - and the date, of course!
