Gayle Forman does an amazing job with her book, Sisters in Sanity. With Teen Boot Camps currently a hot issue, this book explores the world of so-called “treatment centers” This book is great for anyone age 16 and up.
Brit is not very excited when she is informed that she must miss her bands first really big gig to go on a family trip to the Grand Canyon. Unfortunately she never makes it there. After being tricked by her father and taken to Red Rock, a treatment center that claims to cure rebellious teen girls, Brit is in shock. With her father under the delusion that Red Rock will actually cure her of her “rebellious behavior”, Brit struggles to cope with Red Rock’s therapy that does more harm than good. With its staff of under-qualified counselors telling her she is crazy and no one willing to listen to what is really going on at this tough love treatment center, Brit and her new found friends must find away to escape Red Rock before things get worse. But with counselors separating the girls and having others spy on them, will they even have a chance to meet? The girls also struggle to figure out where they will go once one of them gets out?
Brit, V, Bebe, Martha, and Cassie struggle to help each other overcome the nightmare of Red Rock, but as they learn more about each other will there bound break? Will they find a way to shut the school down and prevent it from ruining the lives of other young girls? You’ll have to read it to find out and that is definitely what I suggest!
