Pretty Tough

Liz Tigelaar does a terrific job in her book, Pretty Tough. This book is great for anyone ages 16 and older and I think anyone who has struggled with the role of sisterhood should definitely read it!

Charlie and Krista are sisters, yet they couldn’t be more different. Krista is pretty, popular, and seemingly perfect while Charlie is rough and practically a social outcast. This sisters used to be friends, but now they barely acknowledge each other. That all changes when a new soccer coach comes to their high school and recruits Charlie for the team. Although Charlie has no desire to play soccer for the school, she is interested in taking down her sister, the star of the team. Krista is determined not to let Charlie beat her at her own game and the season starts out shaky.

As Charlie makes new friends and finally starts to get a life, Krista’s perfect world seems to be falling apart. With Charlie seemingly stealing the spotlight on the field the last thing Krista needs is for her boyfriend to break up with her for her ex-best friend. As Krista realizes that her life wasn’t as great as she had thought, she attempts to make peace with her sister and it works for awhile. Until Charlie lets her jealousy and need to be the best ruin things.

Will the girls be able to overcome their differences in time to win the season with their team? Or will Charlie let her jealousy wreck not only her relationship with her sister, but also her team? You’ll have to read to find out!

Reincarnation

Suzanne Weyn’s gives love a whole new meaning in her book, Reincarnation. This book is great for anyone ages 16 and older!

Two young strangers meet time and time again over the course of history. Beginning with a fight in a cave over a mysterious green jewel, it continues up until modern times. Through Egypt, Greece, Witch Trials, battlefields, Pre-World War II spies, and 1960s Civil Rights torn America these two individuals go through it all. The two strangers are lovers on more than one occasion as they are reborn but still find themselves connected to each other and to their past lives.

As they get transported into new times, they never seem to fully realize that they have been connected for centuries. Love’s strength is obvious in each and every story, as people try to tear them apart, they keep ending up back together.

This is a great book that not only demonstrates the power of love throughout the ages but it also takes you on an enchanting journey through time and space.

Hollywood Girls Club
Posted by Meagan at 1:44 pm in Books

Hollywood Girls Club, by Maggie Marr has all the drama that one would normally associate with Hollywood along with surprisingly close-knit friendships. This book is great for anyone ages 16 and older!

Celeste, Jessica and Lydia have been friends for a long time and in Hollywood that really says something. Celeste, the megastar wasn’t even married for a year before she found out her husband was moving on to someone younger. She hasn’t done a film in 2 years, because of her husband’s request and now he has dumped her from his upcoming movie and replaced her with his new girlfriend. Celeste decides to join up with Lydia, who just so happens to be the hottest producer in town.

Lydia is dead set on producing Seven Minutes Past Midnight, but Arnold, her new boss and sworn enemy, is set to go head to head in opposition of everything she wants. With her leading man in rehab and her director off in some foreign country, her movie is sinking fast. To top things off, Arnold is intent on ruining the female in order to sabotage her career. But with Celeste signed on for the lead roll and Jessica, her agent and the president of the hottest agency around, the movie seems to finally be on the right track. And with Mary Anne, the girls new friend and a naive writer, rewriting the script the movie seems destined to be a hit!

Will the girls be able to overcome all their personal and professional obstacles while still maintaining their friendship? You’ll have to read it for yourself and I would definitely recommend it! This book quickly became one of my favorites and I was unable to put it down!

Chalet Girls: Slipper Slopes
Posted by Meagan at 2:36 pm in Books

Emily Franklin does an astonishing job with her book, Slippery Slopes. Slippery Slopes, the second book in the Chalet Girls series is just as addictive as the first and leaves the reader desperately wanting more. This book is great for anyone ages 16 and older!
Melissa, Dove, and Harley became friends while working at Les Trois Alpes, one of Europes most prestigious ski resorts. When Harley got offered a job with a family at a tropical island, she jumped at the chance and left Dove and Melissa behind in the snow. Not only are Dove and Melissa without their friend, but they are also both up to their ears in boy problems.

It’s Holiday Week at the resort and the girls are kept busy making sure that their guests are kept happy and entertained. With Melissa busy planning the Winter Wonderland Ball, she hopes that she won’t have time to worry about Gabe and James, the two boys that she is torn between. But when Charlie, the seemingly useless cleaning girl, starts throwing herself at James, Melissa can hardly think about anything else, and she almost misses out on an incredible guy.

Dove is struggling to decide between Max, her former love and William, her current flame. With Max within arms reach and William over a thousand miles away, she doesn’t have an easy decision. When Claire, her former best-friend, comes to stay at the resort with the intention of stealing Max, Dove’s life is made even more complicated.

It’s hard to keep track of all that is going on at Les Trois, but its definitely fun trying to! This book is a fun read and the perfect thing to pull out on a snowy night!
