Mary Newbury lives in a time and a place where it is dangerous to be different. Fleeing England with little belongings, she joins up with a band of Puritans and heads off to America. Confiding everything in her diary, Mary tries desperately to fit in. After her grandmother was hanged as a witch, Mary realizes how dangerous the world can be and vows to keep herself out of trouble. Unfortunately, the task is not as easy as she had hoped.
When the hunt for witches moves to the new world, Mary and those close to her, begin to worry about her safety. Will she be forced to run again?
This was a GREAT book! As I’ve said before, I love historical fiction and anything that revolves around witch hunts/trials really catches my attention. This book was named an American Library Association Best Book for Young Adults and I can definitely see why! Be sure to check this book out next time you visit your local library or bookstore!
