Laura Pedersen does a great job with her book, Beginner’s Luck. It captures your attention and is great for anyone 16+.
Hallier Palmer wants to go to Vegas. But as the second of seven children, she can’t even get a car. After being band from the casino, losing all her money at the race track, and getting grounded by her parents, it is clear that she has hit a losing streak and so she decides to cut her loses. She manages to land a job as a yard person for an elderly and eccentric woman by the name of Olivia Stockton, who lives with her son, Bernard and his lover, Gil. When Hallie decides to drop out of school at sixteen, Olivia offers to homeschool her and she gets the education of her life.
This entertaining novel is sure to keep you hooked as you read about the adventures of the Stockton household and hold your breath as Hallie navigates her new life. I definitely recommend this book to everyone!
