Laura Pedersen does a great job with her book, Heart’s Desire, the sequel to Beginner’s Luck. This book is great for anyone ages 16 and older!
Hallie Palmer surprised a lot of people when she went from wild child to college freshman. After leaving home and quitting school many of the local townspeople thought she would amount to nothing. But she proved them wrong when she got into college. Now, Hallie is returning home for the summer after her first year at school.
When she comes back she is forced to help everyone else deal with their problems, while trying to deal with her own. Bernard and Gil have broken up and Bernard is determined to get Gil back and he plans on convincing Hallie to help him. Hallie thinks that she is the least qualified to mess around in anyone else’s love life since hers is pretty lifeless.
To top things off, her mother has given her the job of straightening out Louise, her younger sister who seems to be in the midst of rebellion. As Hallie tries to deal with everyone else’s issues she is struggling to figure out relationships and what and who she wants. With her ex-boyfriend back in town, she is torn between an old flame and a potential new own, who may not be exactly what she thinks he is.
Will Hallie be able to survive the summer? Or will she break under the pressure to help everyone else? You’ll have to read to find out and I would suggest checking out Beginner’s Luck first so that you can read up on Hallie and all her friends!
