With Halloween just right around the corner, By the Book Reviews is here to offer you a little trick-or-treat. We’ve counted down our favorite vampire books below and are giving away some treats. Check out the details at the bottom of this entry.

1. Betrayed by P.C. Cast & Kristin Cast

Betrayed, the second book in the House of Night series by P.C and Kristin Cast, is even better than the first! When I sat down with this book I couldn’t stop reading and I found myself unwilling to go to sleep until I finished it!

Finally, Zoey has started to settle in at the House of Night school. After saving her ex-boyfriend and several other fledglings when a ritual goes bad, she is made Leader of the Dark Daughters, and is on the path to become a High Priestess. Suddenly, Zoey’s new found happiness is threatened when human teenagers started to disappear and all signs point to the House of Night. Read the full review!

2. Marked by P.C. Cast & Kristin Cast

Have you ever had a book that you just couldn’t put down? Well Marked, by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast, was one of those books for me.

Sixteen-year old Zoey was just your average girl dealing with boyfriend issues and high school drama until she was marked by a fledgling vampyre. Read the full review!

3. Good Ghouls Do by Julie Kenner

Julie Kenner does an incredible job in the sequel to The Good Ghouls Guide to Getting Even. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a chance to read the first book but it was easy to jump right into this one.Beth Frasier is a vampire, but she is definitely not the only one at her high school! After saving her boyfriend by turning him into a vampire, she is afraid he may be trying to kill her in order to become human again. She soon realizes that someone else, someone even more dangerous is after her and they won’t stop until they get rid of her. Read the full review!

4. Girls That Growl by Mari Mancusi

In the third book in Mari Mancusi’s vampire series, Girls That Growl, we find ourselves once again following Rayne McDonald, vampire and vampire slayer.

With issues at home and boyfriend trouble, Rayne is already facing more than she can handle. But as the current vampire slayer for Slayer Inc. she is given a new assignment. One of the football players has disappeared and the bosses at Slayer Inc. think that the cheerleaders have something to do with it. Read the full review!

When I was about four years old, my mother dressed me up as a bunch of grapes. I wore a purple sweatsuit and a green hat and face paint. She taped/pinned (what seemed like) hundreds of purple balloons all over me. I couldn’t sit down for the entire time I had it on. But, it was better than when she dressed me up like Madonna, cone bra and all, when I was just one year old…

One was dressed up as Mr. Cash( he looked like Uncle Sam in his red white and blue), I dressed up as a stereo (radio dial and all) and one co-worker went all out and dressed up a TV set. It was so cute and she even had a plug (like you plug in the wall). It was so much fun and the customers loved it!!!

I dressed up as a knockoff Elvis (with a mask, flashy clothes, but a goatee), and I went to a costume party this year. During a game of musical chairs I could see I wouldn’t get to the last chair in time as this small girl was my competition, so I decided to make my elimination look cool, so I did a slide and had my hands up in the air like a true rocker. The coolest part was that I burned a small hole in my pants from the about 10 foot slide that I pulled off. Plus, I got to have my picture taken with a few lovely ladies.
