February is the month that focuses on all things love. There have been many and will continue to be many love songs. However, these titles often become a bit cheesy. Some of them might start out as sweet, romantic tunes to play for the one you love, but in time, you begin to listen to these songs and simply can't help but chuckle. It's not really that the song is all that bad, most of the time, but the lyrics are just goofy or strange.
First, we have Meat Loaf with his hit single "I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That). People nowadaways might simply recognize the song for the Dr. Pepper commercial it is used in, where the boyfriend will do absolutely anything except give up his Dr. Pepper. It works because throughout the whole song Meat Loaf never says what he will not do! First off, it's simply annoying, and secondly, nobody would do everything they were asked! It's just not going to happen.
Now, for those of you who are Youtube users, you might rememeber being Rick-Rolled on April Fool's Day. Every video you clicked on would simply play "Never Gonna Give You Up" by Rick Astley. Perhaps the video makes this song more cheesy than it actually is, watching a nerdy looking Rick with a deep voice trying to dance, but regardless, it will always be on this list somewhere. Another love song is by The Turtles. Their song "Happy Together" is fun and a definite sing-along, but alas, here it lies on our top cheesy list. Savage Garden, with their many love songs, has one in particular that is beyond corny. This would be "I Knew I Loved You", which sounds harmless enough, but will definitely have you laughing if you read the lyrics. They insist that they had fallen in love with this girl before they ever met you. It's a nice thought, but it's simply a bunch of cheese. Bryan Adams insists that "Everything I Do (I Do it for You) also makes the lists for the fact that it's simply unrealistic. I think a lot of love songs are seen as cheesy if they sound false. Not every move you make or word you say is because of love. What about the times you're angry or upset? You aren't feeling particulary loveable then, are you? As we come to the end of this list, we have a song from the infamous duo, Sonny and Cher. Everyone knows "I Got You Babe" because of the short and catchy chorus, but just give the lyrics a quick look-over and you'll find yourself laughing, I'm sure. Again, it's a cute thought, but this is definitely not the ultimate love song. Finally, we end with "I Just Called to Say I Love You" by Stevie Wonder. You have to admit that this one is a bit chuckle-worthy. Then again, it might be for the fact that people seem to believe only girls would ever feel the need to call their loved one to simply emit those three words. This Valentine's Day, enjoy the music and revel in the feeling behind their words. However, it won't be a crime to laugh out loud and realize that most love songs are a bit cheesy, but yet you tend to love them in some way regardless.
