The Summer Set: who hasn’t heard of this new & upcoming band by now? Recently Teen Scene had a chance to chat with two of the bands members: Jess, the drummer and only female member and Brian, the vocalist who joined in 2007.
Luke Pilgrim, Taylor Woodruff, and Tyler Ayers make up pop/rock band, Last November. Like so many bands, Last November began as a high school hobby for Luke and Taylor, but with undeniable talent and some luck on their side, the guys have become an indie sensation. Their latest single "Julie" from their just released third album "Tug O' War" will soon be taking over radio.
Often compared to Jason Mraz and John Mayer, Matt Duke is a Philadelphia-based singer-songwriter who just released his newest EP, Acoustic Kingdom Underground EP. Duke's music isn't your typical coffee house folk though - his lyrics are laced with literary allusions to John Updike's Paradise Lost and Ayn Rand's We the Living. His soulful, slightly jazzy EP also takes notes from Biblical stories, as one song, "Kingdom Underground," retells the story of Adam and Eve. Themes in his very intelligent music include religious struggles, the quest for truth, and of course, love and sex. His expressive and honest tone make him an accessible singer, with a big fan base mostly comprised of swooning females. Recently, Teen Scene had a chance to chat with Matt and we are excited to share what he had to say with you!
The Secret Handshake, consists of the musically talented self taught artist Luis Dubuc, who started his music career in the early 2000’s. His music is typically described as ‘electronic pop rock’ and has been compared to bands such as HelloGoodbye, but when we asked Dubuc he merely said that his music was like ‘Uncle Jesse from Full House meets the best summer jam you’ve ever heard’. Although he is great friends with Forrest from HelloGoodbye, and thinks he is a great musician, he doesn't really think their music is similar, although he does take the comparison as a compliment!
Originating in South Florida and currently residing in Los Angeles is up and coming alternative rock band Fallbrooke. Recent accomplishments include being played on TOP 40 radio, getting their song featured on the hit MTV show The Hills, and being named an “About to Pop” act on Popeater.LATEST
