katiearmiger.jpgThe next big thing in country music goes by the name of Katie Armiger. This 17-year-old from Sugar Land, Texas brings youthful passion and powerful vocals to the music scene.

Armiger was born in Houston, Texas and has grown up with a large family of four parents, four sisters, and two brothers.  Although Katie’s life resembles a juggling act, she is always appreciative of the support from her extensive family.

Katie’s adventure began two years ago when she entered Radio 93Q’s “Houston’s Best Country Singer” contest. Over 150 adolescents, ages 9-17, were showcased over the eight week period. However, Katie’s rendition of Martina McBride’s “Whatever You Say” was the winning performance in her division.

Shortly after, Katie began recording in Nashville studios. When she finished her first, self-titled debut album, Armiger’s vocal talent and unforgettable song-writing was apparent. Her musical inspiration comes from some of country music’s most memorable stars like Martina McBride, Sarah Evans, Wynonna, and Dolly Parton.

Katie says that she has always enjoyed writing, which became a regular skill when she was only ten-years-old. Her song-writing talent is evident in her first album. (She wrote seven of the eleven songs). Katie still attending Austin High School with straight As, but continues to follow her dream. Armiger performs at county fairs, rodeos, and more.

“Believe,” Katie’s second album, is an 11-track album which features the released single, “Make Me Believe.” Katie Armiger’s impressive voice and deep song-writing make her an upcoming star that we should all keep our eyes on. Many are excited to hear how her musical talent develops in the near future.

Teen Scene: What is it about performing that you are so attracted to?

Katie Armiger
: I just love performing, especially when it is something I have written.  It really means a lot to have my words touch people.

Teen Scene
: Who is your biggest musical influence?

Katie Armiger: Probably Martina McBride.  I have always looked up to her and I think I have performed most of her songs in various contests at one time or another.

Teen Scene: Growing up, what type of music did you listen to?

Katie Armiger: I listened to Country music most of the time.  It is what I have always performed as well.

Teen Scene: Were there ever any times when you considered quitting the music
industry?

Katie Armiger
: No, I feel like it is my dream and I want to do whatever I can to succeed.

Teen Scene: If you could change anything you've done so far in your career as a
musician would you? If so, what would it be?

Katie Armiger: I don't think I would change anything, because everything I have done has brought me where I am right now and I would not have wanted to miss any of the experiences so far.

Teen Scene: How does it feel to be chosen to perform at the 76th Annual Houston
Livestock and Rodeo?

Katie Armiger: That is probably one of the best things to happen to me.  I have gone to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo every year as far back as I can remember and I always dreamed of singing there.

Teen Scene: Are there any causes or organizations that you actively support or wish
to support in the future?

Katie Armiger: I had the privilege to be invited to St. Jude Hospital for the Country Cares Benefit.  It made me realize just how much time and money that is needed for cancer care and research.  That is definitely something I want to be involved with.

Teen Scene: What advice would you give to those wishing to break into the
entertainment industry?

Katie Armiger: It is a lot of hard work.  Make sure that you are ready to put everything into it and don't give up!
