The Clique Girlz Interview PDF Print E-mail

cliquegirlz.jpgEver since their days in diapers, The Clique Girlz have known that they were destined to become singers. The group, made up of sisters, Paris and Destinee Monroe, and their best friend, Ariel Moore, are the female answer to the phenomenon known as The Jonas Brothers--a title they do not take lightly.

“It is such an honor to be compared to them. They’ve become so famous in the past year and we really look up to them,” say the Girlz in a recent interview with Teen Scene. “We hope to have the same success as they do.”

On their way to such success, The Clique Girlz formed in 2003 and were discovered at a Backstreet Boys concert by member, Howie D. They were signed in 2007 to Interscope Records and have since been the opening act for such artists as Billy Ray Cyrus, The Click Five, The Jonas Brothers, and the Backstreet Boys. Along with this whirlwind of touring, the Girlz are also preparing the release of their debut album sometime this year.

With this album, these three bubbly girls hailing from New Jersey are aspiring to achieve what their predecessors have done except, they say, in a way uniquely theirs. They describe their album as being a “fun pop/rock album” with a twist.

“Some songs [are] twisted with different genres of music so our fans will get a taste of everything!” the Girlz reveal, but unlike other “teenybopper” or “teenpop” genres, the Girlz insist that Incredible has more to offer. “Our music is more edgy and a little more mature than most teen music.”

The Clique Girlz began the recording process in 2006 and within a two-year span had recorded a total of 90 tracks. They admit it was a “hard decision” having to choose their favourites, but eventually narrowed it down to the 15 songs expected to appear on the album. Featured among the 15 final tracks are the singles “The Difference in Me”, “Then I Woke Up”, and “How Do You Like Me So Far?”

But despite their burgeoning success, Destinee, Paris, and Ariel maintain that they are just normal girls.

“Our parents still make us do chores, fold our own clothes, and make our bed. We do regular teenage things like shopping, having sleepovers, and talking about fashion and boys.” Then with a laugh, they add, “Even though we’re not allowed to have boyfriends at this moment!”

It is with this mixture of talent and humility all wrapped up in fun that The Clique Girlz have undeniably already accumulated a very formidable resume with the promise of an equally impressive future.

And at their young ages (Paris is 12 while Destinee and Ariel are 14), it’s certain to be a long one.
