On April 20, 2010, off the coast of Louisiana, the Deepwater Horizon semi-submersible Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit exploded and caught fire killing 11 and injuring 17. Shortly thereafter, it sunk and started leaking oil into the Gulf of Mexico. For almost 3 months, it had continued to do so at a rate of 35,000 to 60,000 barrels (1.47 - 2.5 million gallons) per day. This has had a dire impact on marine and wildlife ecosystems along the coast and has affected industries such as tourism and fishing.
Teen Scene is covering Spring Break 2010 from 10 destinations, covering 10 states over 10 days. Born in the 80’s and growing up in the 90’s, many of us don’t know a world where HIV/AIDS is not a constant fear in the back of our head. We are the generation that watched Pedro battle HIV on MTV’s “The Real World: San Francisco” and eventually die from AIDS on November 11th, 1994. With more than 30 million people now living with HIV/AIDS worldwide, awareness has become fairly commonplace in the United States; however the stigma surrounding the disease continues to be a challenge those infected must confront daily.

Not to mention the crazy initiation ceremonies that scare you to join. But, how realistic is this image we are presented with through the media?
