Movie Reviews - The Skeleton Key
Caroline (Kate Hudson) is a twenty-five-year-old hospice worker who looks after the elderly. After her last patient passes away, she becomes fed up with how her co-workers treat them and she leaves the clinic. Caroline takes a job in Louisiana, caring for Ben (John Hurt), a stroke victim who can't speak and is bedridden. Violet (Gena Rowlands), Luke's cold wife gives Caroline a skeleton key which opens every door in the house.

Caroline's curiosity brings her to their attic where she discovers a secret door. Inside is what looks like a voodoo room with spells, bones and blood. Caroline asks Violet about the room and when she responds in a cold manner, Caroline becomes more suspicious of both Violet and the attic. Caroline later learns that the original owners were two house workers who performed Hoodoo, a witchcraft practice and were lynched as a result. She remembers Ben had his stroke right after entering the attic which leads to suspicions. What is Violet hiding from her? And what is Ben trying to tell her?

This supernatural thriller will keep you guessing until the end. Just when you think you have it all figured out, screenwriter Ehren Kruger, keeps you in suspense. Krugers hit, The Ring, kept audiences frightened to watch a video tape, fearing they would die in seven days. The Skeleton Key will make audiences think twice about black magic. If you believe, will all your darkest fears become a reality? The Skeleton Key hits theaters, August 12th - a thriller to the very end.
