Special Feature - Is Fear A Factor For You?
Would you hang thirty feet in the air?  Stick your hand in a tank of eels? Or eat chocolate covered bugs? If the answer is yes, then the new Universal Studios Hollywood attraction Fear Factor Live  is something for you!  The attraction, which opened June 18, brings park guests 18 and older to participate in a simulation of the highly popular reality TV show, Fear Factor.  Scott Trowbridge, the vice president of Design and Creative Development for Universal parks and resorts stated, "We're taking all the energy and excitement you see on the show and bringing it to our guests live. We create attractions that guests can participate in. People visit Universal Studios seeking the Hollywood experience and there is no better experience than being a participant in an attraction based on television's extreme reality show."

In order to be eligible to take part in the simulations you must go through a casting call at the park. What do they look for in contestants? Trowbridge says "We're looking for people with big personalities."  But if you don't get picked, there is still a chance to participate. Before each show, they pluck audience members to compete against each other in two different stunts.

With a host, six contestants, and three stunts, one feels right in the action. You might gasp when the contestants are harnessed thirty feet in the air, gag when watching them drink a special Fear Factor Live smoothie, or cringe when the contestants are charged with electricity. Trowbridge insists, "The best stunts tap into people's primal fears, their real fears. There is no better reaction than witnessing someone overcome their deepest fears live."  After each stunt, two contestants are eliminated and must walk down the "walk of shame".  If you are one of the lucky winners, you will be eligible to compete on the real TV show Fear Factor in the future.

If you're not one to participate, watching the live show is an event in itself.  David Hurwitz, executive producer of Fear Factor expresses, "Guests will enjoy the adrenaline of watching the stunts live. When you get to witness people attempting stunts firsthand and you are right there in the moment with them, it's riveting."

Facing your fear is one thing, but to face it in front of a live audience can make it even more intense. But with the encouragement of the audience shouting your name, your endurance only gets stronger! You hang on a little longer, drink a special Fear Factor smoothie a little faster, and find strengths you never imagined you have!

If you aren't familiar with the TV show, Trowbridge emphasizes, "The stunts are one-of-a kind and shockingly real. Guests will enjoy access to a Hollywood stunt show like never before."  Whether you're watching someone face their fears or facing your own personal fears, Fear Factor Live is a new attraction that will leave you wanting more!
