Texas Instruments (TI), in partnership with "NUMB3RS," the Paramount Network Television Series for CBS, is holding a sweepstakes that provides you and your math teacher the chance to win an all expenses paid vacation to Hollywood, plus a walk-on role on “NUMB3RS” for one lucky teacher.
One grand prize-winning student will receive a four-day, three-night trip to Hollywood for a family of four including round-trip air transportation, hotel accommodations, a meet-and-greet with a “NUMB3RS” cast member and a visit to the show’s filming location. One lucky teacher will win a trip to Hollywood for four, plus a “walk-on role” on “NUMB3RS.” A first place student winner will receive $2,500 towards college costs, and the second place student winner will receive $1,500 towards college costs.
TI will also award 84 third prizes for students to receive a TI-84 Plus Silver Edition graphing calculator valued at $130.
“The sweepstakes gives us another opportunity to show students that math can be interesting and how it can be used beyond the classroom,” said Melendy Lovett, president of Educational & Productivity Solutions, Texas Instruments. “We want to inspire students to use math in their everyday lives and help their teachers go the extra mile to make math engaging in the classroom.”
Students (age 13-19) can log onto www.cbs.com or http://education.ti.com/educationportal/sweepstakes/login.jsp from February 15, 2006 to March 15, 2006 for a chance to win. To enter, you simply click on the sweepstakes link, complete registration information and provide the name of your current math teacher. You will be allowed to enter once per day for the duration of the sweepstakes and can earn an additional entry each day by answering two grade-appropriate math questions.
